Personally I try to always buy stuff that's made in the US. I'm not some patriotic weirdo, but I do like that working conditions here are better, and that's why boards here are more expensive. To me, its worth it to support people who work in the country. Every board that's made in the US will say so. If it doesn't say so, it's made in China. Girl/Chocolate is made in chine, Zero and Real and Krooked and Anti Hero are made in Mexico. Workshop used to be only US, but now they make some boards in China. The deck will usually say so. Anything Dwindle such as enjoi, blind, darkstar, almost is made in china. Even Stereo makes shit in China. US only boards include Foundation and Toy Machine. I think Black Label still makes them here, but I could be wrong, dead wrong. Anywho, buying a board now is more about standing up for the type of company you support and where you buy it is a huge question. If I could, I'd just get some local shit. Maybe 5boro still makes shit here. I think they do. I normally just skate workshops cuz they feel the best, but i'm gonna switch it up next time. 5boro has good shapes and you can often find the designer skating the monument on the williamsburg bridge, like allen and i did. he's a super cool dude. giardelli or some shit. anywho, buy some local shit from a company that is skater owned so that big time assholes won't run skateboarding into the ground. Ultimately, that is what will cause skateboarding collapse. It's getting closer. Skater owned companies are becoming fewer and fewer. I digress though. Get a 5boro and feel good about skating in NYC! That's my opinion. Or get a hoodlum, I here this dude Boudreau skates for them. He kinda sucks though. Or get a habitat, those things are sick.
and yes, there are tond of skateparks in oregon. but remember to bring your dickies and trucker hat cuz your gonna need them. they are definately fun, but are super intimidating. imagine fdr in philly, but smooth, bigger, and rainier.
